Should I dump them before or after New Year’s Eve?

It’s that time of year again – New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, and you may be wondering whether it’s better to break up with your significant other before or after the holiday. Well, wonder no more – we’ve got you covered!

Let’s start by looking at the pros and cons of breaking up before New Year’s Eve:

When did we start celebrating New Years Eve?

Should I dump them before or after New Year’s Eve?

December 30, 2022

Pros:

  • You’ll save money on a potentially overpriced New Year’s Eve event ticket.
  • You won’t have to suffer through that awkward New Year’s Eve kiss.
  • You won’t have to deal with any post-breakup New Year’s Eve drama.
  • Maybe you’ll meet the person of your dreams at a New Year’s Eve party

Cons:

  • You’ll have to endure the guilt and heartache of being single on the most romantic holiday of the year.
  • You’ll have to deal with the pitying looks and awkward questions from family and friends.
  • You’ll have to spend New Year’s Eve alone, sobbing into a tub of ice cream and wondering where it all went wrong.

On the other hand, here are the pros and cons of breaking up after New Year’s Eve:

Pros:

  • You’ll get to enjoy one last hurrah before ending things.
  • You’ll have a good excuse for why you’re feeling down on New Year’s Day (because you just broke up, duh).
  • You’ll have the rest of the year to get over your ex and move on.

Cons:

  • You’ll have to endure the awkwardness and tension of pretending to be happy while secretly plotting your escape.
  • You’ll have to deal with the guilt of potentially ruining your ex’s New Year’s Eve plans.
  • You’ll have to face the wrath of your ex when they realize you’ve been planning to break up all along.

So, which is the better option? Well, it’s a tough call. On the one hand, breaking up before New Year’s Eve means you’ll avoid the awkwardness and tension of pretending to be happy. On the other hand, breaking up after New Year’s Eve means you’ll get to enjoy one last hurrah before the end. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and circumstances. If you’re feeling particularly masochistic, go for the pre-New Year’s Eve breakup. If you’re a bit of a coward, post-New Year’s Eve might be the way to go. Either way, just be prepared for some drama and heartache – breaking up is never easy!
