PARK(ing) Day is a global event where participants take over metered spaces to create parks. On Sept. 18 there were around a dozen spots scattered across the Twin Cities. This year, Solutions Twin Cities organized the event. One of the organizations founders Colin Kloecker discusses the concept of PARK(ing) Day, followed by participant Jacob Wascalus. Then Kloecker describes his goal for the event in 2010. |

Take a before-and-after look at the new office of Virchow Krause, an accounting and consulting company of more than 250 staff. The firm relocated from Bloomington into the Capella Tower at 225 S. 6th St. over Labor Day. The Downtown Journal toured the office construction with employees, and talked to staff after the move to hear their first impressions of Downtown. Outreach workers hit the streets

As part of the county's plan to end homelessness, outreach workers meet with homeless people on the streets to help connect them with services they need and help them find housing. The program started a little over a year ago, and so far it has tallied more than 300 contacts and moved 43 people into housing. (Photos by Robb Long, slide show by Michelle Bruch) |

The Local D'Lish in Downtown Minneapolis hosts an indoor Winter Farmers' Market. The market began last November and will be held every third Saturday until April 18. Visitors can get a little bit of everything - from fresh eggs and cheeses to brownies and soaps. |
