How to actually achieve your New Year’s eve resolutions

December 27, 2022

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and for many of us, that means it’s time to start thinking about our New Year’s resolutions. While setting goals and making positive changes can be exciting, it can also be overwhelming and difficult to follow through on these resolutions.

According to a survey conducted by the University of Scranton, only 8% of people actually achieve their New Year’s resolutions. However, with the right mindset and approach, it is possible to increase your chances of success and make lasting changes in your life.

Here are some tips for completing your New Year’s Eve resolutions:

  1. Set specific and achievable goals: Rather than making vague resolutions like “lose weight” or “save money,” be specific and set clear, achievable goals. For example, “lose 10 pounds by June” or “save $500 by the end of the year.” Setting specific goals will make it easier to track your progress and stay motivated.
  2. Make a plan: Once you have your goals in mind, make a plan for how you will achieve them. This might involve creating a budget, scheduling workouts, or finding a support group. Having a clear plan in place will make it easier to stay on track and reach your goals.
  3. Track your progress: It can be helpful to keep track of your progress, whether it’s writing down your workouts in a journal or using a tracking app to monitor your progress. Seeing your progress can be motivating and help you stay committed to your resolution.
  4. Get support: Surround yourself with people who will support your goals and help you stay on track. This might include friends who share similar resolutions or a coach or mentor who can offer guidance and encouragement.
  5. Stay flexible: It’s okay if you stumble or have setbacks along the way. Don’t get discouraged – instead, adjust your plan as needed and keep moving forward.
  6. Celebrate your victories: Don’t forget to celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem. This can help boost your motivation and keep you going when things get tough.
  7. Seek accountability: It can be helpful to share your goals with someone else and seek accountability. This could be a friend or family member who can help keep you on track and hold you accountable.
  8. Be patient: Change doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s important to be patient and give yourself time to adjust to new habits. Be kind to yourself and remember that progress takes time.
  9. Seek professional help: If you are struggling to make lasting changes on your own, it may be helpful to seek the assistance of a professional, such as a therapist or coach. They can offer guidance and support to help you achieve your goals.
  10. Don’t give up: It’s normal to have setbacks and moments of frustration, but don’t let that discourage you. Keep trying and stay committed to your goals.

By following these tips and staying focused, you can increase your chances of success and make lasting changes in your life. Remember to be kind to yourself, stay flexible, and celebrate your victories along the way. Happy New Year!
